The Colors of the Automotive Fluids You’ll Find in Your European Automobile

Let’s talk about the automotive fluids you’ll find in your European automobile and their common colors. Kinetech Motor Werkes can find the cause of any fluid leak in your car, truck, or utility vehicle and repair it. The color is one way to determine which fluid is leaking out of your automobile.

Blue

For example, if you have blue fluid spots on the garage floor, your European automobile is most likely leaking windshield washing solution. The only other fluid that is blue is antifreeze/coolant, but having antifreeze/coolant in a blue hue is rare.

Brown

Brown is a more common color of automotive fluids. The brake fluid is usually brown and the differential and motor oil are brown. Your transmission fluid may also turn brown when it gets old and dirty. Driving your automobile when it is leaking brown fluid can be dangerous and damaging.

Clear

You don’t need to worry about clear fluid and less it smells like fuel. Clear fluid is usually just water dripping off the air conditioner or out of the tailpipe. If the clear fluid smells like fuel, however, don’t drive your European automobile because it is obviously leaking fuel.

Green

Green fluid is the color of antifreeze/coolant. This comes in many different shades of green including neon green and green-blue. It’s not a good idea to drive your European automobile if it is leaking antifreeze/coolant because the level may be low enough to cause the engine to overheat.

Orange

The same is true with orange fluid because this, too, can be your antifreeze/coolant. Sometimes, the radiator rusts and the rust particles turn the antifreeze/coolant range. In other cases, the original color of this automotive fluid may be orange.

Red

Red is also a common color of automotive fluids. The transmission fluid is red until it ages, the power steering fluid is red if your vehicle has power steering fluid, and the brake fluid and antifreeze/coolant can be red depending on the brand that is in your automobile.

Yellow

Finally, antifreeze/coolant is also commonly found in a yellow or yellow/green color. In some cases, this color may be neon. Oftentimes, fresh brake fluid or motor oil can also look yellow because they are light brown. You should probably have your European automobile towed to our shop if it’s leaking yellow fluid.
